Final Jury Diagrams & Site Plan

As a start from the large scale analysis, I started with my own experience while we are searching and visiting the site. We started as group of researcher and visitor by walking from that point to Talya Hotel along the coastline of the cliff and sea. The blue lines show the route that we follow as a researcher goes to Talya. The route passes by covering the Kaleiçi. The red ones show the route that we follow as a visitors included the Kaleiçi.

While we were walking, there are some important points attract my attention. The routes connects and changes our direction to another space throughout the coastline, like miradors. And also there are some research on that pedestrian movement and the route changes around the Kaleiçi.

For example, there are two street was opened the pedestrians at that point there is a statue was located. It created a square by breaking two routes which visitors collect and they can chose their routes that they follow and have a clear perception of the elements around them. Then, these are possible routes reach to site that I find. After the large scale analysis, I analyze the routes of Talya Hotel as a second step. I noticed that there are similar routes inside the Talya Hotel because of its winds. Then I tried to design promenade by creating routes which are in between spaces and buffer zones by adopting Talya.

Then I created the main promenades with the axes coming from the city. We feel the presence of the promenades in creating the space. For example, we come to the promenade by seeing the sea between Talya and the city, and eventually the promenade breaks down and turns us into a space by creating space. When this route changes direction within the space and meets a new route, it creates an in between space between structures. This route changes direction again and creates a new structure and these two masses are connected by routes from the interior. The connection of the spaces with each other not only specific for these two. Other places work together with the routes with the strategy of taking the routes to the walls and they are connected to each other by these  in between spaces. So the important thing in the promenade I designed is to create flows and spaces between spaces. For example, between Talya and the city, between the sea and Talya, between the cliff and Talya, such as buffer zones.

In addition to this, what I had in mind when designing promenades was the relationship of the programs. I’ve positioned the program packages that are relevant to each other, both in terms of user and usage time, to be streamed to each other. For example, there is a flow from the exhibition to the leasable area by connecting with the convention and from leasable area to the city club. The decision I made when I dismanting Talya is that the face of the Italian looking over the city has a more important identity in the memory of people. In addition, Talya’s terraces are more suitable for building a promenade. However, I made the whole of the site in the terraces of Talya on the terraces by doing the opposite way in an exploded circulation. Another point that I have taken into consideration is the perspective on the sea when designing these promenades. At the same time the view of the sea also affected the spatial form. I tried to show this in these diagrams. The roofs of the spaces are broken to face the view.

Last PreJury..

Based on large-scale research, I discovered routes for both research and visitors in the city, and when I arrived at the terrain, I realized that Talya had a route pattern that originated from his own form. From this route and the idea of the promenad, we have brought a Promenad – Route strategy into the site. After the large scale analysis, I analyze the routes of Talya Hotel as a second step. I noticed that there are similar routes inside the Talya Hotel because it has a geometry that leads us. Then I created the main promenades with the axes coming from the city. We feel the presence of the promenades in creating the space. For example, we come to the promenade by seeing the sea between Talya and the city, and eventually the promenade breaks down and turns us into a space by creating space. In the space, this route again turns into a new course and creates a break from the space; This time between structures. Again, it turns into a structure, and these two masses are connected by routes from the interior. it is not only valid for these two places, but it is the status of the routes within this venue. The most important things I have in mind when designing Promenades are; to provide flow to places with routes, to create intermediate space. In addition to this, what I had in mind when designing promenades was the relationship of the programs. I’ve positioned the program packages that are relevant to each other, both in terms of user and usage time, to be streamed to each other. For example, there is a flow from the exhibition to the leasable area and from here to the city club. Another point I have taken into consideration is the perspective of the sea when designing these promenades. At the same time the view of the sea also affected the spatial form. I tried to show this in these diagrams. The roofs of the spaces are broken to face the view. I did the same on Talya’s terrace.
